Which Is Your Religion?

That won't affect my views. Actually pretty much every college is that way with the exception of a few. I come here for an education and I like the friends I have here.

Most colleges can be pretty liberal. If I didn't get into this college I probably wouldn't be in college period because most other colleges burn a hole in your pocket. One of Berea's criteria for acceptance is financial need. That's not its only criterion.

I do appreciate your concern, but I'm 18, I'm fine. It's no surprise to me because a lot of colleges are liberal. I have my religious views, one college alone won't affect it. It'd take a lot for a college's religious views to affect whether or not I wanted to go there.

I do like the lack of partying over here and the teachers and stuff like that. Their liberal theology won't affect my beliefs.

I'm completely aware that my college has a Christian identity and that I have my college's motto in my signature.

I am not going to talk about my college life in this thread because it says "what is your religion?".

And don't call me Chubz. You all need to lay off of him because it's getting kind of old.

I can easily see how Protestants think we "worship" our Priests and especially the Pope, but that is not the case.

It's just my request that people read up on other people's religions before accusing them of anything negative. It's okay to question, to conjecture, but please just don't make assumptions. This is how hatred for other peoples start.

This is not me being proud, this me begging actually.

At Church one a guy who goes there (teacher at Pound) told me growing up in Norton it was impossible to go door-to-door to sell things for fundraisers just because people knew you were Catholic and of all the negative misconceptions about us.

It's because Protestant and aethist America have developed such a hatred for us that it makes it hard to defend ourselves. The pleas fall on deaf ears.

If anyone thinks the Catholic church is still a world super power, look at all the traditionally Catholic country (e.g. Spain and in Latin America) and look at how many of their governments are legalizing gay marriage and other non-christian things.

Granted the Catholic church rightly fully has its blame for lots of wrongdoings in the world's past (LOTS of them), but that's completely attributable to man abusing power, it has NOTHING to do with the ideals of our religion. Yes people have bent and shaped things to their will, but we're better for it and the institutional checks are much stronger. The doctrine remains infallible, but none of mankind is - i.e. even the pope goes to confession (FYI Catholics do not believe that if you just go to confession it's a free ticket to heaven for every time you sin... Confession is worthless if you go right back out and keep sinning. Confession is like a mini-Baptism so to speak, but you have to mean it. How many Protestants can testify to people getting Baptized multiple times. God will sort out those who lie by Himself. We have no delusions and do not believe in Magic or anything people tend to think we do.

we KNOW our clergy are imperfect, we understand the faults of our past, but our religion is one of peace

and just as important we are Christian
